Art therapy is a form of
psychotherapy that allows participants to work through issues in a safe
accepting setting, working at their own pace and led by their own needs and
concerns.
This process is usually integrates Counselling/ Psychotherapy methodology. (see
how I work)
Use of art materials allows a more direct access to
unconscious processes than a purely verbal interaction. The Art Therapist
encourages the participants to discover their own meanings and interpretations.
The clients need no art skills or experience, as the
process, meanings and associations are of greater importance than the finished
appearance or product.
Discovering and connecting with our innate creativity can
in itself be powerfully therapeutic and enjoyable.
